The teacher can have students study the cameraless animation techniques used by the filmmaker to identify the elements of visual-arts language (shape, line, colour, texture) and take inspiration from them to create works on paper; draw a “flipbook” animated sequence (draw images on successive pages of a notebook and animate them by flipping the pages); highlight the elements that generate an emotion, make a list of them and represent each of them with a facial expression, funny face or gesture; and/or do research on the lives and work of Norman McLaren and Oscar Peterson.
